Apeksha Pre-school was set up by the BODO-HUETTEN-FOUNDATION in 2010 with the help of the citizens of Galahena for children between the ages of three and six.
Situated 70 km from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, the kindergarten sits on a hill with a picturesque view of the surrounding landscape, studded with tropical rainforest.
Immersed in such a setting, the children here learn to be one with nature whilst at school. Apart from a delightful garden and an outdoor playground for the children to explore, the building also houses an indoor play room and a stage that serves as a platform for theatrical performances.
Apeksha Pre-school itself acts as a platform that allows each child to grow unhindered and explore without inhibition.
Through singing, painting, caring, acting, sharing, loving, climbing, falling, listening and dancing, they learn to live in a world that accommodates differences and encourages freedom.
